Describe the goods precisely
Record what each item is, what it is made from, what it is used for and its country of origin. Avoid internal part numbers or vague descriptions without plain-language detail.
Check classification and controls
Confirm the relevant commodity code and whether the goods need an export licence, import permit, certificate or special declaration. Dangerous goods must be identified and prepared by competent personnel.
Measure the packed shipment
Count every piece and capture the final gross weight and outside dimensions after packing. These details affect pricing, vehicle choice, airline acceptance and handling.
Match packaging to the journey
Protect against normal vibration, handling and stacking. Use strong outer packaging, internal cushioning and secure closures. Pallets should be stable, accessible and suitable for transport.
Align the paperwork
The booking, invoice, packing list and labels should agree on shipper, receiver, pieces, weight and goods details. Include a reachable contact at both ends.
