Air Freight in 2026: Five Ways to Plan Capacity with Confidence

Air Freight in 2026: Five Ways to Plan Capacity with Confidence

Air freight works best when speed is supported by good preparation. Sharing accurate information early gives your logistics partner more scope to compare routes, protect deadlines and manage cost.

1. Start with the required delivery date

Work backwards from when the goods must be available at destination—not simply when they can leave your premises. Build in collection, airline acceptance, customs clearance and final delivery.

2. Confirm weight and dimensions

Air freight pricing and capacity depend on chargeable weight. Supply the packed dimensions, gross weight, number of pieces and whether anything can be stacked. Flag oversized, dense or awkward cargo at the outset.

3. Keep routing options open

A direct flight may be the fastest choice, while a carefully managed connecting service can provide better capacity or value. Tell us which deadline is fixed and where there is flexibility.

4. Prepare documents before collection

Commercial invoices, packing lists, commodity descriptions and classification information should be complete and consistent. Destination-specific licences or certificates may also be needed.

5. Identify special handling

Temperature control, dangerous goods, high-value security and time-critical handovers require specific processes. Early disclosure helps us select the right service and handling partners.
